Third Day music from: Godtube.

Since we are in this area of Christian music. I thought I would use this platform for a discussion about a common problem that separates the body of Christ. And that is people judging one another for the Christian music they listen to. I myself have struggle for sometime with this because I grew up in the era of where southern rock groups were the big hit. And that's what I liked. And basically, Christian music was either country, or elevator music. So when this new music started getting applied to Christian lyrics, everyone started saying: It's evil and of the Devil. Really? Let's take a look at what the bible says and quit inserting our own opinions, shall we?

First off, if the music is Satanic then it cannot have the drawing power for anyone to come to Christ, right? Well I have heard several artists of Christian rock groups lead several people on the radio to Christ during interviews. So let's look and see if Satan can work against himself...

Matthew 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
Mark 3:26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.

So music based in the roots of Satanism cannot save anyone. But there is more. Who is it that controls the drawing power to bring someone to Christ? Father God does.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

So the drawing power for salvation is controlled by Father God. Which means any ministry (music or whatever) that draws people to Christ is first approved of by God. But there is more. What does Christ say about those who are for Him but they do not do things exactly the same way of His example?

Luke 9:49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

Requiring people to follow a certain group to be in the right with God and Christ, does more to hender the body than it does to help. How many young people get turned off to Christ everyday because older people judge them for their selection of Christian music? Come as you are is the salvation message. And when they come who's job is it to clean up what needs to be cleaned? Us, or Christ? And who is the judge? Not us. If we judge someone and it does not align with how God judges, them did we not do a greater diservice to the body of Christ than the person we judged?

So basically we are supposed to use deductive reasoning through the use of verses to be able to tell if a certain thing is of God or not.

 1) Does the ministry save people?
 2) Does it have the drawing power which is controlled by God Himself?

And if it has these things, then Jesus says: And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us. So if you are using your opinion to say this is wrong, and not the word of God. Then you are doing a great diservice to the body of Christ.

Is rock music evil part two (good tree vs the evil tree):

When talking about Christians in ministry we often forget that we are considered trees.

mt 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

And the rule of this is what the next verse says:

mt 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Example of a good tree:

Example of a Corrupt tree:

Now what is the difference between the two bands? It's the people (the trees). The Corrupt trees cannot produce good fruit (music that draws people to salvation). And the the Good trees cannot bring forth evil fruit (music that corrupts people to be against salvation). So if you take the instrument (electric guitar) of the fruit (music):

And put it in the hands of an corrupt tree, what kind of fruit (music) will come from it? Evil of course.
And if you put it in the hands of a good tree, what kind of fruit (music) will come from it? Good of course.

So it's not the guitar, it's not the type of music. It's the person or persons who produce it, and stand behind it. Because if the music were the problem, then a Christian would never be able to play an electric guitar because, as God's words says: A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit. So if the music from the instrument was the problem, then there would be several instruments that could never be played by a Christian. Because for God to give the gift to play a corrupt intrument, would make God Himself corrupt too. And he would be working against Himself.
